A celebration of our creativity

We’re excited to announce that our school is participating in the Soul Inspired Exhibition for the third consecutive year. Six of our Year 6 students have had their work selected for the exhibition. Some of their families will be attending the opening this Saturday. We look forward to seeing their artwork on display.

Week 6 & 7

What's happening in the art room?

Celebrating Father's Day with Creative Art Projects!

Our students have been busy preparing thoughtful and creative gifts for Father’s Day. Here's a look at what each year level crafted:

  • Prep Students: Our youngest artists showed off their drawing skills by creating heartfelt portraits of their dads, uncles, or grandpas on canvas. Each portrait is unique and captures the love and admiration they have for these important figures in their lives.
  • Year 1/2 Students: These students got hands-on by making personalised keyrings, using wooden beads and leather rope.
  • Year 3/4 Students: Creativity was in full swing as these students decorated wooden chips. They painted and embellished the chips, turning them into fun and practical.
  • Year 5/6 Students: Our students designed magnets, drawing designs and attaching a thoughtful word cloud card. These cards included words that describe their dads, making the gift both artistic and personal.

Week 7

Our Prep students have been working on making dream catchers using cardboard templates, yarn, and beads. They practised their weaving skills by threading yarn through the provided holes. The students did a great job, creating colourful and unique designs!

Our 1/2 students have finished their weaving paper plate project, creating impressive woven pieces. They were proud of their work and they were excited to show off their creations!

Our Year 3 students are making great progress on their Ugly Dolls project. Last week, they finalised the parts of their dolls and are now ready to glue everything down. The next step will be sewing the dolls together. Meanwhile, our Year 4 students have begun designing their own Ugly Dolls and have started cutting out each part.

Our Year 5/6 students have begun their latest portfolio task: making pinch pots using clay. This will be their second piece to go into the kiln, following our first successful firing. The students are excited to see their unique designs come to life and are eager to continue exploring their skills with clay. Stay tuned for more updates on their progress!

Exciting News from the Art Room: Our First Kiln Success!

We are thrilled to share that our first batch of clay pieces has been successfully fired in the kiln! The process went smoothly, with only a few minor cracks and, to our delight, no explosions.

With this first successful firing under our belts, we can't wait to use the kiln many more times in the future.
