Principal's Report

Report from our Principal: Duncan Arendse

Dear Parents, Friends and Father Arsenio,

Our school Production is scheduled for next week. All students will be on stage for the show to be held at the Besen centre in East Burwood. The two shows will play to nearly 1400 patrons and our students are super excited. Kayla will be sharing information for parents about pick up, drop off etc hopefully by tomorrow, so please be patient.

Feedback on our website was provided by the SAC recently. Essentially we aim to have the landing page direct existing and new families. The revamp has started so please watch out for further changes.

After extensive feedback from our SAC and meeting with the MACS business advisor I have been able to set fees for 2025.  As a result, fees will increase over the next three years. MACS (head office)  set an expectation based on our parent data about what we are expected to collect and insist that we meet these targets.

We have worked through the School Advisory Council (SAC) to come up with a formula that we hope will suit all families. Further information will follow in the weeks ahead.

I am grateful to Andrew Conway who has chaired our SAC for just over four years now. His council and wisdom have been invaluable and I am appreciative to say the least. Succession planning is underway to appoint his successor.

Camps are also scheduled to come up at the start of next term. Our year 3/4 students will be staying overnight at the zoo for the “Zoo Snooze’ trip and our 5/6 students will be heading to Anglesea for a water activities camp.

Community gatherings continue to be a focus at school. We have recently had our second Dad’s night and soon to be followed up with a great day at the fete as well as participation at the Parish Carols. I want to acknowledge the work of Belle Godfrey in getting this off the ground this year with a great team. We are also trying to make the level masses a greater focus with students being actively encouraged to attend with their friends. The 3/4 level are next.

Have a great week,

Duncan
