SCHOOL SPORT DAY THIS WEEK IS STILL THURSDAY

NEXT WEEK WE GO BACK TO WEDNESDAYS

SCHOOL SPORT TERM 4 - Weeks 7-10

From weeks 7-10, we will again head to Werris Creek Pool for our swimming sessions. School sport days will return to Wednesdays. For four weeks students will leave school at 11:30am and return by 1:20pm for our swim sessions. These sessions begin next Wednesday the 27th November and will run through to Wednesday 18th December.

These sessions will provide students with opportunities to perform a range of water safety and survival skills, e.g. treading water, blowing bubbles, floating on back and  entering and exiting the water safely. They will have the opportunity to learn how to propel through the water in a streamlined position, using arm action and continuous kicking and may learn a variety of stroke skills such as freestyle, backstroke, breastroke and side stroke.

For our first swimming session, students will complete a swimming skills checklist. This well assist in grouping students, according to water confidence and ability, for the remainder of our swimming sessions.

COMPASS PERMISSION:

COMPASS permission for this event is now ready. Please ensure you indicate your child's swimming ability when signing this permission as this will inform Week 1 swimming groups as well.

What to pack:

Each week it is important students pack the following in their swimming bags:

  • Swimmers and rash shirt (sun protective swim shirt - no student will swim without one).
  • Thongs, slides or crocs to wear to the pool (much easier to pop on when wet).
  • Towel
  • Goggles - particularly important if students do not like putting their head under water.
  • Sunscreen - only if a special brand is requires. The school has sunscreen readily available to students.
