Advent Prayer Services - 1st Sunday of Advent

Advent Liturgy

This morning, our 1st Advent Liturgy for the whole school community was led by the students in Prep - Year 2. All students partcipayted with the utmost respect and reverence. They presented the Jesse Tree and introduced us to the first 9 symbols representing Jesus’ ancestors.

We invite you to our next Advent Liturgies on Monday, 9 and Monday 16 December at 9.05am to continue our journey through the season of Advent.

What is the Jesse Tree?

Sometimes, to tell a story properly, you have to go back to the beginning.

It’s a bit like tracing the branches of a tree back to the trunk. If you start at the edge of a tree, first there are leaves, then twigs, then branches and then you get to the big central trunk that keeps the tree alive. As Christians, we use the Jesse Tree to trace the story of Jesus right back to the central figures of the bible thousands of years ago. The significant people who carried the story of God’s love until we reach the day when Jesus was born are the ones who we will learn about during our Advent Liturgies.

Advent Children's Packs

Advent/Christmas packs for children are available after all Masses this weekend at St John's Parish Church. Please feel free to take one per family. They are available at all exits from the Church.

Children’s Christmas Eve Nativity Mass

The 4.30pm Mass on Christmas Eve will be a children’s Mass. We will begin at 4.15pm with a Christmas Nativity Tableau. We invite all children attending to come dressed as shepherds, angels, stars or anything representing the Nativity as all children will be invited to be a part of our Nativity Tableau. We require some children and parents to take on some of the lead roles during the Tableau and Mass. If you and your children will be attending this Mass and are willing to be involved, please text or call Diane on 0418 128 408 or Jenny on 0413 826 468.
