Wellbeing Wednesday - Christmas Dress Up

We celebrated our last Wellbeing Wednesday at the College. The day was filled with Christmas spirit as students and staff dressed in their favourite Christmas Attire. Our primary students enjoyed Christmas performances by our primary dance group and participated in the candy guessing competition.

The true Christmas spirit was felt as each student bought in an item to support our 2024 Christmas Appeal, these hampers will go a long way in supporting families and individuals who may go without this Christmas.

We thank Sr Juliette and the Social Justice Leaders, and the newly appointed GEM leaders, who coordinated activities throughout the day.  On behalf of the Student Representative Council, we wish everyone a Blessed Christmas filled with peace, joy and hope.

K-2 End of Year Concert

Students from Kindergarten to Year 2, gathered to display a series of energetic, upbeat dances; capturing the fun and positive spirit of our students, and the collective feeling of joy we feel around the celebration of the Birth of Christ.

Secondary Expo: A Night at the Movies

MCHF came together for yet another unforgettable Expo Extravaganza, A Night at the Movies. It truly was a fantastic showcase of incredible talent. The night was filled with fun and entertainment, highlighting the hard work and creativity of our students. A huge thank you to all the staff who worked tirelessly in putting together the show, to our sponsors who supported the event and to all who attended.

Thank you to Isabella Ishac and Leila Bou Melhem, year 10 student photographers, who captured images and video of the Expo event.

Peer Support Training

Our Year 9 students participated in an engaging and informative Peer Support Training program, designed to equip them with the skills to provide support to their Year 7 2025 peers.

The training focused on active listening, empathy, conflict resolution, and building a positive school community. Students learned practical strategies for offering guidance and helping others navigate challenges, both academically and emotionally.

We are excited to see our Year 9 students put these skills into practice, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for the 2025 Year 7 Cohort, as they transition into secondary.

ASX Games

Students at MCHF volunteered to participate in the Australian Stock Exchange Virtual Game with over 22,000 students in Australia. Each participant was given $50,000 in virtual money to purchase shares at the current market rate, providing them with an invaluable opportunity to experience the dynamics of the stock market. Each student worked exceptionally well.

The winners across the MCHF teams were George Taouk and Joseph Layoun from Year 10.

Well done to all the students who took part in this exciting challenge!

Parramatta City Council: Youth Framework

The College had the opportunity to work with Brooks Community Engagement, contracted by the City of Parramatta; to capture student voice in the development of their youth framework.

Our students discussed important issues in the areas of Education, Mental Health, and Environmental and climate action.

The council was impressed by the ideas and suggestions that our students presented and have been advised that some of these ideas can be supported through council grants to initiate the insights of our students. This has been a great opportunity for our students to establish meaningful connections and empower change outside of the College.

Rewards Day

As we approached the end of the school year, we celebrated our students' hard work and achievements with a special Rewards Day. This event took place on Wednesday 4th December, and it was a wonderful opportunity for students to enjoy some well-deserved fun and bonding time with their peers and teachers.

Our K-5 students enjoyed a Christmas movie, followed by spiritual reflection and team-building challenges. The highlight was the 20m inflatable course set up on our Grass area, there was plenty of joy and laughter.

Our Year 7, 8 10, and 11 students enjoyed the coastal lines of various Sydney beaches, they hit the waves, and they enjoyed having lunch together, by the water.

Our Year 9 students started their day with a breakfast at the College, before heading into Zone Bowling to flex their strike skills.

We would like to extend our thanks to all those who made this day possible.

Student Spotlight

MCHF student Raquel Elias participated in the Dr. Charles Malik Writing Award, organised by The World Lebanese Cultural Union of Sydney. This is a worldwide writing competition open to individuals aged 15 and over. The award is named in honour of Dr. Charles Malik, who was the first United Nations Ambassador for Lebanon and played a key role in drafting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. In 1951, Dr. Malik became the Chairperson of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights.

Participants were required to submit an approximately 3,000-word essay with a distinctive Lebanese theme. Raquel certainly impressed the hosts with her nostalgic and wonderful piece, entitled: The Threads which Compose Me

I had the pleasure of participating in the WLCU Dr. Charles Malik writing competition,  In my entry, I wrote about all of the facets which contribute to my sense of belonging within Lebanon , such as Language, Cultural Arts, Literature, and most importantly my Faith and Family. It was a wonderful experience, as it gave me an opportunity to reflect and appreciate the beauty of our Lebanese culture, as well as connect with other contestants at the Award ceremony, who all shared a common love and appreciation of Lebanon.  I hope this inspires my fellow peers to participate in this writing competition as it is a great experience.

Year 8 Camp

Year 8 absolutely smashed it at camp!

It was so amazing to see them come out of their shells and engage in activities completely out of their comfort zones - - from sleeping in tents, to having no access to social media, to jumping off 12m ledges, to sludging around in muddy swamps! They enjoyed an amazing day together at the beach after exerting themselves running up and down massive sand dunes, and then ended their last night sitting around the camp-fire, praying a beautiful Rosary together as a grade!

They made MCHF proud, making memories that will last a lifetime 🙌🏽

Miss Michael

Year 8 Year Advisor

Let's hear what they student had to say

Year 8 camp was an incredible experience as it pushed us to step out of our comfort zones and into nature. The activities were wonderful and forced us to both face our fears and overcome them, and promoted teamwork and fostered new friendships with people we didn't often speak to. Overall camp was great and through it we were able to create valuable memories that we will never forget.

I wanted to share my experience at the Great Aussie Bush Camp with you. It was

Camp was really fun; it was so enjoyable, I wish I could just have 1 more day. The best thing was doing the activities with my friends and hanging out at night, even though the night was a struggle for the teachers, we had the biggest laughs together. My personal favourite activity was the beach day; it was so fun because we got to do whatever we wanted like play tackle footy and hangout with each other and go for a swim on the hottest day.

ICC Summit: Emily Farah

A huge congratulations to MCHF student Emily Farah for being selected to address students at the ICC (International Convention Centre) at the ICC Summit 2024: a forum dedicated to, and inspiring the next generation of successful entrepreneurs.

Emily has been actively involved in Enrichment projects and showcases since 2022, presenting innovative ideas aimed at benefiting aged care and the elderly.

In 2024, Emily presented her detailed “Aged Care Elderly Companion Scheme” at the Enrichment Showcase. Her thoughtful and impactful proposal captured the attention of guest speakers from the UTS Entrepreneurship Start-ups Scheme.

This recognition has led to an opportunity for Emily to be invited to speak at the ‘Start-ups Summit’ on 5 December at the ICC. The summit hosted up to 6,000 high school students with similar entrepreneurial ambitions.

Emily also presented her scheme at the Max Potential Youth Leadership Showcase, earning praise from local members of parliament. They have expressed interest in supporting her at the December summit and collaborating to further develop her idea.
