Principal's News

Dear Clayton North Primary School Community

Welcome to December, two weeks to the end of the 2024 school year!

Teachers are busy reading and checking student reports; Semester 2 reports will be accessible in Compass from Monday 16th December. The report includes key progress that students have made during the second semester and specific areas of focus for their continued development. Please contact the school if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's report.

Dear Year 6 families – please ensure that your child’s reports are downloaded and printed if necessary. Once the school year ends, your child’s profile will be removed from the Primary School portal. You will not be able to access reports and information after 20th December.

Whole School Transition Program

Our Prep Transition Program has seen our newest students and their families participating in four 1-hour transition sessions run by our Specialist teachers, a Teddy Bear Picnic in our school hall, and a half-day session today with one of their two 2025 Prep teachers. It was great to see so many children attend today. They looked like they had a nice morning, leaving with big smiles and their orange show bags with plenty of goodies and a uniform voucher.

While the children were meeting with teachers and engaging in activities, parents attended an information session with me to understand school procedures and expectations. There were many good questions and parents were eager to be involved with the school. I am looking forward to working with the new families in 2025.

Our students in Prep to Year 5 have had their first transition session this week, with two further sessions in the final weeks. These initial transition sessions will help teachers in forming appropriate groups that support positive student learning. The aim is to have all students meet with their 2025 classroom teacher and classmates on the last Friday.

2025 Staff Profile

A couple of our current staff are moving on to try different things next year! I formally acknowledge Vimala (Physical Education), Jack (Prep B), and Arne (Student Wellbeing Officer) for their valuable contribution to the school, the students, and the wider community. They have each played a big part in the school's accomplishments during their time here, I want to thank them for their commitment and hard work and wish them well in their future endeavours. Jack is expected to return in 2026.

Next year, we look forward to welcoming Chris Mc Donald Cripps as the Physical Education teacher; he will also be a part of the Year 3/4 Team. Herlina Naibaho will step into the role of Multicultural Education Aide - Indonesian, Pramodha Dissanaya, ES support in the classroom, and Arun Britto will be our new SWO. We are also in the process of appointing an EAL teacher to support the EAL team in a new format delivery of the EAL program in 2025.

2025 School Captains

The 2025 School Captains' selection process is now complete. All student leadership positions will be announced at our final assembly on Friday 20th December at 12.30 pm. All parents and families are warmly invited to attend.
