Year 5/6 Legacy Project
Students in Years 5/6 have been working on a collaborative mural to leave their mark in the school. They researched Australian native plants and their Aboriginal names and uses. Particularly those of the Bunurong people (the land which we are on). They drew and painted these native flowers, some from photos and some from real-life plants we brought into the classroom. Students used Posca acrylic paint markers on ceramic tiles to make their artwork come to life. The message on the mural, ‘Wominjeka’ comes from the Aboriginal word for ‘Welcome’. This mural will be put up in our school grounds to welcome people as they come into the school. Congratulations to our Year 5/6 students for their creativity and dedication when completing this project.
Grade 3/4 The Scream Artworks
Students in Years 3/4 studied the famous painting titled ‘The Scream’ by Edvard Munch. They looked at how the artist used the elements of Art and incorporated some of these into their drawings such as one-point perspective. They then used green screen technology on the iPads to superimpose a photo of themselves into their artwork. This was such a fun and engaging lesson whilst incorporating digital technology skills. Here are some examples of their work.

State School Spectacular 2025
Great news! Clayton North Primary School’s participation in Victorian State School Spectacular 2025 has been confirmed. CNPS will be taking part in the Mass Dance section this time. Early next week, I will send a message home via Compass to all families with students currently in Years 4 & 5. If your child is interested in participating, please read the message carefully before responding. Schools participating in Mass Dance are allowed only sixteen students, so if you are willing for your child to take part, please register you interest as soon as possible after receiving the Compass message.
The year is coming to an end, and it has been a busy one in the Physical Education world. Our school captains will tell you all about it:
Hi, my name is Elias, I am the sports captain. This year, for our PE program, we played soccer, gymnastics, cricket, netball, and basketball. The Winter Gala was very muddy but we did not give up. Our team did not win but we cheered for our peers and tried our best. We enjoyed all the interschool events like athletics and cross country. Some students did not come first, second or third but we never give up and uphold our school value of resilience.
Hello, my name is Adele, school captain for 2024. This year for Physical Education we participated in the summer gala and winter gala. We had the opportunity to learn gymnastics, netball, basketball, cricket, and soccer, in PE this year. I really enjoyed learning many things about these sports, all the coaches were kind, and our lovely Sport Teacher Vimala organised these for us. She also organises cross-country, house athletics, summer and winter gala, and all other sports events which everyone is grateful for. We at Clayton North love sports and enjoy our PE classes.
Wishing our students and families a wonderful time during the school holidays.
