Disability Inclusion at Concord School

This year we have requested over 60 Disability Inclusion Profile meetings at Concord School!  What an amazing result!  Well done to our students, parents, Allied Health Team and teachers who have been a part of our meetings and made this possible. Next year, our new Foundation (Prep) students will be our first group of year prep students to be a part of this new reform. This is very exciting, and we look forward to continuing to welcome students and parents across the school to many more meetings next year.

Disability Inclusion is all about supporting your child’s needs. Concord School staff are very skilled in understanding how to accommodate for your child’s individual needs, and this reform is strengthening these skills and providing further knowledge to staff. Over time, this model will replace the Program for Disabilities (PSD) application process.

The Disability Inclusion Profile process is not required for every student every year, as students will only have a few of these meetings in their school life. If your child is required to have a meeting, we will contact you, talk through the process with you and invite you and your child to attend the meeting with us. An independent facilitator will run the meeting and help to complete the profile. The meeting will run for about 90 minutes.

At the meeting, the group will:

  • talk about the strengths and goals of the student
  • talk about the adjustments in place to help them learn at school
  • talk about the level of adjustment that is required for each school related activity

Following the meeting, the school and the parents/carers will receive a profile report. Parents can ask any follow up questions at the following SSG meeting with their teacher.
