2025 Student Leadership team

Student leaders play an important role in bringing the community together and setting a good example for their peers, inspiring positive behaviour. Student leaders often set the standard for conduct, responsibility, inspiring their peers to emulate these qualities. They also work to create places and activities where students feel valued and included, fostering unity and belonging.

Through organising events or leading initiatives, they bring people together, enhancing collaboration and interpersonal skills. The student leadership team have done an amazing job this term to just this, from welcoming our 2025 Year 7s on Orientation Day, to supporting Year 8 at their social dance, this has been just the start of their incredible involvement so far.

As we near the end of term and approach Christmas, the Student leadership team have been looking at ways to build spirit for Christmas, their houses and across the school community. Their ideas have initiated the following:

PC Christmas Decorating

Each Pastoral Care Group will be decorating their classroom with all things Christmas! Trees, lights, tinsel, ornaments, and anything festive that students might like to add. They will have time to decorate during morning PC sessions and judging will take place on Friday, November 29. House points will be awarded, and the winning PC Group will receive a special prize and the opportunity to judge the staffroom competition.

Christmas Mufti Day – Friday, November 29

On Friday, November 29, students are invited to come dressed in Christmas-themed mufti! All we ask is a gold coin donation for our Christmas Appeal, which will support Canice’s Kitchen.

Christmas Bells

Students should be noticing something a little different at the end of the day! As part of the Christmas Appeal, the Student Leadership Team will be playing Christmas music at the 3pm bell.

The student leadership team will also be adding some more festive cheer over the next few weeks, so stay tuned.

Event: Student Leadership Breakfast

Three students; Isla Dindial, Julia Vega Carmona and Zoe Delavande Vasconcelos from the leadership team were grateful to attend a special leadership breakfast  recently in Coogee, led by MP Majorie O’Neill.

The event began with a welcome to country by Aunty Barbara (who was part of the Stolen Generations) and they were able to hear a speech on the balcony of Coogee Bay hotel and participate in a smoking ceremony by Kevin Heath and Richie Chan-Hampton, both amazing and inspirational individuals.

This was followed by guest speaker Liesl Tesch OAM, MP and Parliamentary Secretary for families and communities, and parliamentary secretary for disability inclusion. She was also a medallist at 7 Paralympics in both Basketball and Sailing and an Australian Hall of Fame athlete. She was extremely inspirational in perseverance and a positive mindset.

This was followed by networking for the students and questions to Marjorie. The students had a great time, participated well and had (and have) many ideas!

What a great opportunity to learn and network. We look forward to seeing them put their ideas into action.
