As Term 4 passes its midpoint, I trust each student is thriving and seizing the rich opportunities for learning and growth at our College. With just three weeks remaining in the school year, this is a pivotal moment for us as a community to unite, inspire, and support every student in finishing the year with confidence and a sense of achievement.
Recently, we warmly welcomed our Year 7 students for 2025 during their Orientation activities! This special day allowed our new students to connect with their peers, begin building friendships, and gain confidence as they prepare to start their Brigidine journey.
We extend heartfelt thanks to our dedicated staff for their enthusiasm and care in making the day memorable. Special acknowledgement goes to Justine Rogers, Jon Campbell, Natalia Hennessy, Melissa Nutter, Nikki McWhirter, David Martin, Clara Cosgrove, Spyro Kyritsis, and Steven Quach for their exceptional efforts in creating such a positive introduction for the girls.
The Year 8 Combined Colleges Dance on Friday, 15 November, was an evening to remember! Filled with delicious food, lively music, and plenty of dancing, the night brought joy, laughter, and lasting memories for all who attended.
A special thank you to our Year 11 students, whose efforts in organising food, curating playlists, and managing the event logistics ensured its success. We also thank Julie Norman, Jamie Lee Wood, Tom Inatey, Matt Tichelaar, Matt Mellsop, Kismet Koromhaz, Emily McKeon, and Lucy Collins for their generous support and supervision.
Excitement filled the air as our Year 8 students embarked on their overnight camp at Stanwell Tops last Monday! They had a fantastic experience filled with fun activities, new challenges, and opportunities to strengthen friendships and build teamwork.
Standing Up and Speaking Out Against Domestic Violence
Last Friday, our Year 12 students proudly participated in the annual Stand Up Speak Out Walk from Randwick to South Coogee. This powerful event, organised by the NSW Police Eastern Beaches Local Area Command and Randwick City Council, with support from the SES and the Juniors, raises critical awareness about domestic violence and challenges us all to take a stand and say 'no'.
We are incredibly proud of our students for their participation, demonstrating Brigidine’s commitment to this vital cause and bringing our presence to an event that holds such profound significance.
November 25 marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the start of 16 Days of Activism, which concludes on Human Rights Day, December 10. During this time, our Student Leadership Team has taken the initiative to organise impactful and thought-provoking activities, ensuring the entire student body is engaged in this important conversation.
The charity spotlight from our Student Leaders is 1800 Respect. 1800RESPECT, is funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Social Services, offers 24/7 confidential support.
The dedication our Student Leadership Team is a testament to the strength of our Brigidine community and its determination to be a voice for change.
This Christmas, we are proud to support St Canice’s Kitchen, a vital service providing daily meals and support to those facing homelessness and social exclusion. What began as a small initiative over 30 years ago has grown into a refuge of care and hope for many in need.
Your daughter has received details about how our College community can contribute to this important cause. This year’s appeal includes a fun House competition to inspire generosity and school spirit. We look forward to working together to make a meaningful difference this festive season.
November is a month to celebrate the artistic and musical talents of our students!
We invite you to join us in celebrating the creativity and talent of our students at these special events. Your support will mean so much as they share their achievements with our community.
As we embrace the final three weeks of the school year, let us encourage one another to make the most of this time, finishing strong and celebrating the journey we have shared. As we move towards the Advent season, may it remind us of the profound significance of Christ's coming and inspire us to reflect His love, hope, and joy in our lives.
