A Word from the Principal

A Prayer for Young Leaders

Loving God,

We thank You for the gift of leadership and the young hearts You have called to guide, serve, and inspire.

Bless our young leaders with wisdom and courage, so they may make choices that reflect Your love and justice.

Grant them the strength to face challenges with resilience, the openness to include others with kindness,

And the humility to learn from those around them.

May they embrace the gifts You have given them, using them to build a community of compassion, unity, and peace.

Help them to be beacons of hope, spreading joy and encouragement wherever they go.

Inspire them to leave a legacy rooted in faith, love, and service,

So that their actions may reflect Your light in our world.

We ask this through Christ our Lord,

Amen.

Last week I was able to join our Year 9 students who had the unique opportunity to participate in an overnight leadership experience that was as enriching as it was memorable. With a focus on legacy, courage, resilience, and inclusiveness, this retreat allowed our young leaders to reflect on the qualities they bring to Mount Carmel Catholic College and the positive impact they can have on our community.

Through activities that encouraged both teamwork and self-reflection, the students explored what it means to be a leader - not only in school but in life. They were challenged to think deeply about the legacy they hope to leave, the values they wish to embody, and how they can support and uplift each other. A key highlight of the retreat was the creation of "legacy boxes," where each student captured their personal goals, reflections, and the qualities they hope to pass on to future students. These boxes will serve as a reminder of their commitments and a symbol of their journey toward becoming compassionate and courageous leaders.

Of course, a retreat wouldn’t be complete without a good dose of fun! The students embraced the experience with enthusiasm and energy, even if it came at the cost of a bit of sleep. They tackled challenges, supported one another, and found joy in the shared experience - forming bonds and memories that will surely last a lifetime.

A heartfelt thanks to our dedicated staff, whose guidance, patience, and encouragement made this event possible. Their commitment to fostering a nurturing and empowering environment for our students is truly invaluable.

The Year 9 leadership retreat was a testament to the potential within each of our students and the vibrant, supportive community that we cultivate at Mount Carmel. Here’s to the future leaders who left the retreat with renewed purpose and determination, ready to make a meaningful impact, piece by piece, on our College and beyond.

Capital Works Update

Keep an eye on our ‘Louisa’ project as it really starts to take shape. Next week the concrete slab is being poured much to the delight of our younger students, ready for framing!  Due to some structural issues including drainage and cables, our entrance has had to change.  Fortunately this will mean a shared entrance with our Early Learning Centre and accessible parking with short term spaces for drop off.

Uniforms

A reminder for all families to ensure that students are wearing the correct uniform each day.  The uniform does not include black or white long sleeve tops underneath sports tops, dyed hair, brand name tights, excessive jewellery or coloured nails.  Any students not following the Uniform Policy will receive an infringement, with Heads of House follow up for further infringements.

Enrolments for 2025

Places are filling for all classes next year, with only a few spaces across the College.  If you know of any families seeking enrolment, please encourage them to contact the College for a tour or enrolment pack.
