Supporting Your Child/ren Through End of Year Transitions

As we approach the end of the year, it’s natural for some students to feel unsettled due to the upcoming changes and unknowns of the new school year, such as new teachers, classmates, and learning routines. At home, there are ways to support your child through this transition. Acknowledge their feelings about the changes without discussing the new school year too often. For example, if they’re worried about not knowing their future teacher, reassure them by explaining that teachers are excited to meet new students and are ready to support them. Encourage your child to focus on what’s certain, like the familiar faces they’ll see at school, instead of focusing on the “what ifs.” This can help ease their concerns and build confidence for the year ahead.

Student Attendance

Student attendance is important ALL year round, particularly over the next few weeks and as we begin the school year. We have noticed that a number of our families have planned extended holidays, which may extend into the new school year. It is extremely important that children commence the school year with their peers to build new connections with their peers and teacher, to set up a positive climate in their classrooms. Our first day of school for 2025 is as follows:

  • Year Prep and Year 1:Monday 3rd February 2025
  • Years 2-6: Friday 31st January 2025

2025 Planning

We are in the final stages of our planning for 2025, which includes class, teacher and room placements. Our enrolments are a key factor in this planning. Therefore, if you or someone you know are yet to enrol a child for 2025 please contact the office ASAP. In addition, if you are leaving us at the end of the year, please let the office know.
