Ms Brea Terris

Dear Families,

We hope everyone has had a nice weekend and a lovely Father's Day.

Arrival Time at School

This term there has been a shift in the times that the buses arrive at school. Traditionally in Swan Hill buses have arrived prior to 8.30 am and students have been supervised by teachers outside of their working hours. As part of buses arriving earlier than 8:30 a.m., we understand that other families may have dropped off children earlier than 8:30 a.m.

Please note supervision does not start at school until 8.30 a.m.

Please ensure students are not dropped off before prior to 8:30 a.m.

I understand this may be a change for some families as in the past buses arrived earlier, but teachers are not on duty until this time.

St Mary's OSHC does offer a discounted rate for Before School Care from 8 a.m.

We appreciate families' support with this matter.

Child Safety and Wellbeing at SHNPS

The Victorian Government has introduced new Child Safe Standards to further strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.

SHNPS has reviewed and updated our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These will be available to view on the school website.

We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures, and practices.

If you have any suggestions, comments, or questions, please contact me.

Parent Opinion Survey

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents/caregivers/guardians think of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional but we encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

All families are invited to participate in the survey.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from Monday 28th August to Friday 8 September 2023.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

Information on the survey has gone out to all families via email.

Book Week

Well done to all of our families who participated in Book Week. The students all looked amazing.

Father's Day Lunch

It was lovely to see so many dads and special people join us on Friday for our Father's Day lunch. We hope all the dads and special family members had a great day!

Sentral Pay

We have recently introduced Sentral Pay at SHNPS. This function in Sentral allows you to pay for excursions, camps, etc. online. Many families have welcomed this edition to the school.

If you have any questions about Sentral please contact the office and we can support you with this.

Have a great week.

Kind regards,

Brea
