Principal's Message

From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Once again our parent community has rallied together to support the school and its fundraising efforts. Last Saturday  the Parents Association coordinated a very successful Bunnings Sausage Sizzle at Nottinghill.  Many parents put their hand up to help out through the day, which was amazing. Many thanks to Jess and Elena who worked incredibly hard to coordinate this event.

The Father's Day Stall held yesterday was another example of parents working towards supporting our children and the school. Many thanks to the parents who assisted in the sales yesterday. The children absolutely love being able to buy their dads something special for Father's Day. Special thanks to Alicia and Melea for buying the gifts and organising raffle prizes as well as coordinating the stall itself.

Community is certainly a strength of this school.

St Mary Magdalenes Primary School

Sadly, after decades of dedicated service to the community, our neighbouring school, St Mary Magdalene's Chadstone, will be closing at the end of the year. This news was only shared with their school community in the last fortnight and families are still grappling with having to move from the school they love so much. Local neighbouring Catholic schools have been asked to support the school, their families and staff where and when possible. Recently, local principals were invited to an online meeting with parents to give some detail to the enrolment process at each of our schools.

On Monday our school will be hosting the Prep- Year 3 children from St Mary Magdalene's to show them around our school, complete some fun activities and share a sausgae sizzle lunch together. Thank you to those parents who have offered to help with the cooking on Monday. Your support is  greatly appreciated.

Swimming

Our swimming program concludes tomorrow. The children are to be commended on their conduct and enthusiasm to participate in this year's program. I am sure the program has assisted them in further developing their swimming skills.

Concert

Our school concert is fast approaching and the children are busy preparing to put on a good show. Please refer to the concert page in this newsletter for important updates.

School Improvement Surveys

All families have been invited to participate in the  Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS). MACSSIS is an annual process whereby schools listen to the thoughts and feelings students, families and staff have about how their school can improve. These surveys help inform the ongoing improvement of schools across the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

One of the main goals of the family survey is to identify the strengths and areas for improvement in our school. MACSSIS data benefits everyone within our school and provides valuable community insights on areas that each school can focus on. Our school believes it is important to encourage families to have a voice and contribute to shaping the ongoing improvement of the school.

The survey is available online, but needs to be completed by Friday 15th September 2022.

Parents will have received an email with a link to the surveys.

District Athletics

All the children who recently participated are to be commended for their sportsmanship and efforts. The students met new children from other schools, learnt new skills and enjoyed a great day.

A number of children from our school came either first or second in their events and will go on to division level on Thursday 5th October. Congratulations to all of these children. Mrs Tobin will be in contact with these children and their parents in the next couple of weeks.

Father's Day Breakfast

Tomorrow morning we look forward to welcoming our dads for a special Father's Day Breakfast in the hall. Breakfast will be served from 7:30am - 9:00am. Wishing all our Dad's a Happy Father's Day on Sunday.

Take care everyone

Brendan Welsford
