We are learning to analyse the structure of an explanation text.

VOCABULARY

Analyse: giving a text meaning beyond what it tells you directly by asking questions that allow you to make your own interpretation of the text.

Explanation text: a text that explains something. They might tell you how or why something happens, or give information on how to do something.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Using the text your child wrote (see Writing below), ask them to highlight the structural features of an explanation text they have used and explain why they added those features.
