Careers
Year 9 students enjoyed an excellent day at the Winton Raceway on 10th August. The ‘Hands on Trade Careers Expo’ offered Seymour College students an opportunity to research pathways and get their ‘hands dirty’ with a variety of trade occupations, from plumbing to health and everything in between.
Apprenticeship Network Providers and associated TAFE training representatives were also in attendance to advise students about the bookwork and applied learning component of the ‘on the job’ apprenticeship and traineeship learning environments.
Students most enjoyed the GO TAFE Automotive, electric car display and having a go at experiencing high access climbing requirement for arborist jobs.
Worldskills Australia Excursion
Last week, some lucky currently enrolled VET students attended the WorldSkills 2023 National Championships at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. The WorldSkills expo occurs only once every 4 years and is an opportunity to watch students and apprentices compete at an elite level in their chosen trade and industry.

Students were engaged, respectful and upbeat throughout the day, enjoying visiting the city and negotiating public transport, including trains, trams and for some a brief scooter ride too.
