Dear Parents and Friends

St Francis Xavier Ashbury Newsletter – Exciting Updates and Celebrations!

Dear Parents and Families,

As we move through another enriching term at St Francis Xavier Ashbury, the school is a buzz with activity.

Our Junior and Senior choirs are preparing for the Sydney Catholic Schools Eisteddfod Competition in the next two weeks led by Ms Biskupic and Mrs Valentinuzzi.  Also Miss Loupis is entering her dance group in the Sydney Catholic Schools Dance Eisteddfod. Details of these events have been sent on Compass.

Selected Year 5 and 6 children will be attending our SCS Football Championships next Tuesday (Weather Permitting).

Very soon Stage 3 will be attending our first overnight sports camp since 2015 which I know the children are very excited about.

Attendances and Lateness

Mrs Scullion will be sharing information in regards to attendance and lateness in her newsletter.  Next week parents of children who have attendance below 95% will a receive a phone call from our teachers.  It is imperative that children attend school every day to enhance their social, emotional wellbeing as well as ensuring they keep with the high academic standard expected of children at St Francis Xavier.  If your child is away, please indicate on Compass.  We will also be speaking to families who are constantly late. Lateness causes operational impact to the classrooms and office.  Please be mindful of this in the mornings.

I am delighted to introduce Miss Tayla Nehme as our new Kindergarten White teacher for Term 3 and Term 4 2025. Tayla is known to the children and will be a great addition to the team.  We wish Mrs Kyriakou and her husband all the very best as they prepare for the birth of their first child at the end of July.

Additionally we welcome  Mrs Kate Fernandes as our new Year 6 teacher.  Mrs Fernandes is eager to guide our Year 6 students as they embark on their final two terms at St Francis Xavier before high school. Congratulations to Mrs Aboumelhem and her husband as they await the birth of a little brother or sister for Juliette.

Mrs Aboumelhem and Mrs Kyriakou will commence their parental leave at the end of Term 2

We warmly welcome them both and look forward to the positive impact they’ll make in our children.

A Superb Sports Carnival!

Our recent sports carnival was nothing short of spectacular! The energy, enthusiasm, and incredible sportsmanship displayed by all students made the event a huge success. From thrilling races to team challenges, our students showed determination and school spirit at every turn. A huge thank you to Mrs Pinto Hayes, our dedicated staff, and all the parents who helped make the day so enjoyable. Your support and encouragement truly made the event special for our students.

Parents and Friends Evening – Shaping Our School’s Future

At our recent Parents and Friends evening, we had the invaluable opportunity to share ideas for shaping our new school values. It was inspiring to see so many families come together to contribute their thoughts, reinforcing the strong sense of community that makes our school so special. Additionally, Mrs Scullion provided updates on our additions to our sports school uniform, including the introduction of a new V-neck jumper as part of the winter uniform, an exciting addition to our school wardrobe!

As always, we are grateful for your continued support and engagement in school life. Your involvement strengthens our community and enhances the educational experiences of our students.

As we continue to brave the wet weather, I hope you have a restful weekend with your families and stay dry!
