What a fantastic year it has been for our Carroll Cup Australian Rules Football team. This victory marks our fourth consecutive Carroll Cup title, a truly remarkable achievement. Our team's last loss in this competition was in 2021, highlighting an incredible run of sustained success at the College.

Our team performed consistently well during the round games, demonstrating strong teamwork and skill. The Grand Final against Mater Dei Catholic College presented a significant challenge. We found ourselves trailing by almost 30 points at one stage, but the team displayed remarkable resilience and determination to steadily work their way back into the game. In the end, we secured a memorable victory with a final score of 8.4 (52) to Mater Dei CC's 5.8 (38). This comeback victory was a testament to the players' perseverance and certainly one of the more exciting wins in the school's recent history.

I'd like to acknowledge some of our key players who consistently performed at a high level throughout the Carroll Cup competition: our Captain Josh Allen, along with Ashton Campbell, Cooper Connolly, and Riley Bradshaw.

In the Grand Final, Riley Bradshaw was awarded the Mark Gooden Medal for Best on Ground for his outstanding performance. We also saw strong contributions from Josh Allen, Ashton Campbell, and Charlie Smith, who all played crucial roles in our team's comeback.

This year has been truly exceptional for our school's entire AFL program. I want to extend a special mention to all our other AFL teams: the Kendall Cup, Lumsden Cup, and Currie Cup teams. Their hard work and success have contributed to a historic achievement. For the first time ever, our school has won all four AFL trophies in a single year! This is the first time any school in Wagga Wagga has achieved this feat. This remarkable accomplishment highlights the depth of talent within our school and the collective commitment to Australian Rules Football.

Thank you to all the parents, staff, and supporters for your unwavering encouragement throughout the competition. Your support makes a significant difference.

Netball NSW All Schools Cup

Kildare Catholic College was proudly represented by three enthusiastic netball teams at the Netball NSW All Schools Cup held at Equex on Thursday, May 1st. We entered two spirited Year 7/8 teams and a determined Year 9/10 team, all eager to showcase their skills against schools from across the Wagga region.

Our talented students faced off against teams from Kooringal High School, The Riverina Anglican College (TRAC), St Mary MacKillop College, Mater Dei Catholic College, and Wagga Wagga Christian College. Each of our Kildare teams played a total of six games throughout the day, demonstrating not only impressive netball prowess but also fantastic sportsmanship in every match.

A huge congratulations to our Year 7/8 Navy team who had an outstanding performance, going through the entire competition undefeated! Their hard work, teamwork, and skill have earned them a well-deserved spot in the Regional Final, which will be held right here in Wagga in September. We wish them the very best of luck as they continue their netball journey!

The success of the day wouldn't have been possible without the generous support of our dedicated umpires and coaches. Their guidance and encouragement were invaluable to our students, and we extend our sincere gratitude for their time and commitment.

Well done to all our netball players for representing Kildare Catholic College with such pride and enthusiasm! We look forward to cheering on our Year 7/8 Navy team in the Regional Finals.

Kildare Dominates Riverina Open League Tag Gala Day!

What a day for our Kildare girls at the 2025 Riverina Open League Tag Gala Day on Friday, May 16th! Facing two ten-minute halves per game, our team hit the field ready to shine.

First up, they conquered Tumbarumba with a resounding 20-0 victory. Then, showcasing exceptional defense and powerful offense, they triumphed over MRHS Wade 12-4.

These impressive wins propelled them into the semi-finals against Kooringal High School. Working seamlessly together and communicating brilliantly, the girls secured a dominant 18-0 win, earning their spot in the Grand Final!

The Grand Final saw Kildare face off against Hennessy. Our girls played with incredible skill and sportsmanship, excelling in both attack and defense. Their teamwork paid off, as they secured the championship with a fantastic 16-0 victory, becoming the champions of the Riverina Opens League Tag Gala Day!

A huge congratulations to all the girls for their outstanding representation of Kildare College and the truly exceptional skills they demonstrated on the day. We are incredibly proud!

Riverina Touch Day

We were greeted by some beautiful weather and perfect conditions for Touch Football. The boys definitely took advantage of this and were always in the driver’s seat for all seven games. They played some classy touch, often using set plays and the width of the field to score consistently. The boy’s defence was well organised, with excellent communication which made it very hard for other teams to score. It really was pretty to watch. After playing all 6 round the boys were undefeated. They had to play a team they previously defeated and the boys did it again winning 6-2 in the grand final.

It was a privilege and pleasure to take these boys with many of them displaying leadership skills that would make the school community proud.

Congratulations to both the senior and Under 15 girls who qualified for the Grand Final of the Kendall and Lumsden Cups, respectively. This was on the 28th of May. Both teams played MDCC. The Under 15 girls played first at 1.30. The game was extremely close until three quarter time when Kildare kicked away to win 45-1. Our leaders, Ava (awarded best on ground) and Grace, led by example and were well supported by the rest of the team, particularly the defence of Imogen, Delilah. Daisy, Lacey, Mia and Savanah, who continually repelled the ball.

Then at 4.30 pm the Open girls played. Once again, it was a very close match until three quarter time (12-10) when the girls kicked away to win 30-11. The girls continually backed each other up, playing an excellent team game. Particularly good games from Ava repelling the ball from the backline, and Majella, who was awarded best on ground for her performance. A big thank you to all staff, students and parents who came to support the girls.

To qualify, the Senior girls competed in a gala day on the 21st May at McPherson Oval. They played against WWHS, TRAC, KHS and MDCC with Majella, Amelia, Molly, Grace, Charlotte and Bridee scoring numerous goals throughout the day. Abbey, Holly, Ally and Macey continually drove the ball forward throughout the day. Abbie and Emily toiled relentlessly in the ruck. Congratulations to the defence who, through their consistent efforts and teamwork, only conceded 8 points all day. Thank you to Lily, Freya and Addison, who ran water and goal umpired all day.

On the 15th of May, the under-15 side also played a gala day against KHS, WWHS and TRAC. Once again, the whole team displayed excellent teamwork to qualify for the final. Throughout the day, Grace S and Grace J, Zara, Lulu, Daisy, Ava, and Andi scored numerous goals. The midfield of Ava, Grace S, Grace J, Katani, Ivy and Zara worked hard to drive the ball forward for the forwards to be able to score.

Thank you to Willow for running the water all day.
