Year 2 Excursion

Year 2's Visit at Elizabeth Farm
This week, Year 2 students took part in an enriching excursion to Elizabeth Farm to explore daily life in colonial Australia.
Through a range of hands-on experiences, they gained insight into how the Macarthur family and their servants lived without modern conveniences such as electricity, running water, and appliances.
Students engaged in traditional activities such as hand-washing clothes, writing with a quill and ink, and investigating the kitchen garden—prompting thoughtful discussions about life before supermarkets and modern technology. During the guided tour, students explored how food was preserved without refrigeration, how guests were entertained, and how servants were summoned in the 1800s.
The day concluded with students participating in heritage games, including hoops, skittles, quoits, and cup and ball. This valuable learning experience allowed students to compare aspects of colonial life with the present day, bringing history to life in a meaningful and memorable way.
