Gospel Reflection
The Most Holy Trinity
Summary
In this reading, Jesus tells his friends that there’s still so much more for them to learn—but they’re not ready yet. So he promises to send the Holy Spirit to help guide them. The Spirit will speak the truth, share what God wants them to know, and help them understand more deeply who Jesus is. It’s a message of trust—Jesus reminds us that we’re not alone and that learning and growing in faith is something we do over time, with God's help.
Gospel Reading: John 16:12–15
Jesus said to his disciples: “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, because he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.”
Reflection
This Gospel reminds us that we don’t have to have all the answers right away. Even the disciples needed time and support to understand what Jesus was teaching. That’s why Jesus promises the Holy Spirit—to be a guide, a helper, and a comforter. As a family, we can remember that the Holy Spirit is with us too - helping us make good choices, grow in faith, and love one another more deeply. We can trust that when we’re unsure or when life feels confusing, God is still with us, helping us to understand and walk in truth.
- When is a time you felt unsure or confused and needed help to understand?
- How can we listen for the Holy Spirit in our family life?
- What are some ways we help each other grow in faith and love at home?
- Is there something we could pray about together as a family this week?
Prayer
Loving God,
Thank you for sending us Jesus to show us how to live with love and truth. Thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit, who helps guide us when we feel unsure or need help. May our home be filled with your peace and your presence. Help us listen for your voice in our hearts and give us courage to follow you every day. Come, Holy Spirit, and guide our family in love.
Amen
