Year Four

Spotlight on Learning

Jericho Community

Dear Families,

This week students participated in our School Mass. They were all reverent and sang beautifully. Students reflected on the deeper message about Jesus, how He is the Good Shepherd and how we are all part of His flock.

Next Week we are learning about...

Religious Education Focus

Next week students will continue our focus on being 'called to serve' and that great heroes are worth following. Students will learn about Mary and how she was a woman of faith who allowed God to work through her. They will be able to name an event where Mary showed great faith and give reasons on how they believe that she showed great faith.

English Focus

We will continue to read ‘Uncle XBox’ and complete grammar, vocabulary and comprehension tasks related to the text. Students will continue their factual recounts about the First Fleet and settlement in Australia.

Mathematics Focus

Students will begin exploring shape and classifying shapes according to their sides and vertices.

Integrated Studies

Students will be continuing their learning in the area of Civics and Citizenship. Next week’s focus will be on active participation within the community.

Social/ Emotional Learning & RRRR

Students will continue the next topic of Positive Coping with a focus on ‘Taming Angry Feelings'. Students will learn to describe the sorts of things that people can get angry about, how to calm down and stay in control when they feel angry, and identify the self-calming strategies that would work well for them.

Auslan Focus

Students will begin unit 4B where they will learn signs about working together such as: work together, work in pairs and work in groups.
