Division One Men
The Open team enjoyed a solid 5-0 victory last Friday night against a young Devils side, which fought hard to control our run and open play.
The game was won early on when we were able to use both wings to open up our forward line. As our opponents frustrated our play, perhaps we tried to force things too much, and we were unable to find the early passes to runners that had seen us start well.
Still, two goals each to Captain Jack Jarvis and Oscar Hawthorne ( the second a delightful controlled first-time shot) and a single to Taylor Haley gave us our win.
There is no game scheduled this weekend.

Division One Women
This week, we welcomed back old collegian and former captain Lily Cush. She will be playing with us for the next few weeks, and it was extremely exciting to have her return.
We started the game against Coleraine strongly and pushed for our attacking drives into the circle despite being faced by Mrs Cameron, who worked as their key fullback.
Olivia Rees was cunning in her tactics, making quick decisions to deceive the opposition. She assisted Sophie Merrin’s stunning three goals, which smashed into the backboard.
The highlight was Rosie Baker making her debut in the inner and scoring her first goal with a perceptive pick-up, flicking it into the net.
This round was our first win for the season with a final score of 4-2.
I am incredibly proud of the girls' development, and hopefully, there will be more wins to come.

Netball
Last weekend, some of our students were involved in the Western Zone Netball Championships. They performed exceptionally well and should all be very proud on their selections in their respective teams, and their efforts on the day.
Belle Wallis, Isla McClure and Ruby Price played for the South West League, whilst Saskia Gould was selected in the Hampden team, who won their division. Saskia, a key player in her team, was unfortunately injured just before the Championships. Grace O’Sullivan and Elodie Cochran played for the Mininera League.
To top it off, Susie Holcombe, the College Registrar was umpiring and parent Susan McClure was coaching.
It is fabulous to see the girls taking the next steps and experiencing competition at the higher levels. They are to be congratulated and recognised for representing their leagues within the region.

Football
On Friday, 30 May, the College took two girls' footy teams down to Pedrina Park to battle it out in the Glenelg Division Football Competition. The teams consisted of an intermediate team (Years 7-9) and a senior team (Years 10-12). The intermediate girls started out the morning strong with a 7-point win against the Heywood/Good Shepherd team, unfortunately, followed by a rough 29-point loss against Monivae College. After a quick lunch break, the girls fought hard against Portland Secondary College, coming close, but sadly losing by just 1 point. To end their day, the intermediate girls drew against Baimbridge College and had an unbelievable 18-point win against Bayview College.
As for the senior girls, and for many it was their last year of GD footy, they grew stronger and stronger as the day progressed. Starting off against Heywood/Good Shepherd, an unfortunate loss was primarily because we had to hand over some of our elite players to get even numbers between the teams. With the next game just 5 minutes later, the girls played against Monivae. Even though they gave it their all, Monivae won by 6 points. The seniors then scored a 20-point win over Portland Secondary, instantly lifting the mood. To end the day with soaring spirits, College went head-to-head against Baimbridge, came out on top with a convincing 39-point win, and finished the day with an astonishing win against Bayview, 42-0.
I congratulate all the girls who participated in this year's competition. It was great to see the year levels come together, with new faces and a range of abilities working together. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank all the people who helped on the day. This includes Miss Dixon, who ran the entire event; your efforts do not go unnoticed. A huge thanks to both Todd O’Sullivan and Jock Nicholls who coached the intermediate and senior teams respectively. And finally, a massive thank you to our Gapper Honor Gibbons, who kept score of all 33 games that took place during the day.

Climbing to New Heights at College
The Rock Climbing Club held its first session yesterday.
This student-led lunchtime club saw students learn the basics and get a grip on the ropes in a supportive and energetic environment. Thanks to Mrs Williams and Dr Hawthorne for helping students operate the College rock wall and teaching students how to reach new heights.
The group will meet again next Wednesday in the College Sports Centre, where students will continue developing their climbing skills.
Participants are reminded to bring their PE gear and enthusiasm as they prepare to scale new heights together.
