Boarding

Boarder of the week
This week we are delighted to celebrate Isla Oldfield-Mann as our Boarder of the Week.
Isla is in Year 7 and has quickly become a valued member of our boarding community. Since joining us, she has embraced the opportunities that boarding life offers, particularly the close friendships she has formed and the opportunity to pursue her true passion for dance.
What makes Isla's achievement particularly noteworthy is how rapidly she has developed her independence and organisational skills within the boarding environment.
For a younger student, her maturity and self-management abilities are truly exceptional.
I have been thoroughly impressed by her ability to balance and navigate the demands of her academic studies, sporting commitments, and diverse co-curricular pursuits with such efficiency.
Well done, Isla, for your effort, dedication, and the kindness you show to others in Mac House.
You are a shining example of what it means to thrive in our boarding community, and we look forward to watching you continue to grow and succeed in all your endeavours.
Just Dance
Some of our boarding girls have been embraced Just Dance sessions as part of their evening routine. This activity has become a wonderful way for them to conclude each day, combining fun, fitness, and friendship. The girls have formed close bonds through their shared enjoyment of dance and music, supporting each other as they learn new routines. Just Dance has become a positive way for them to unwind and burn off energy before heading to bed, creating a healthy transition from the busy school day to a restful night's sleep. Well done girls, and MOD’s!
Ice bath’s
As a Physical Education teacher, I certainly encourage good physical health and recovery practices with our boarders, and this week two Year 12 boarders who are mad keen on AFL have taken their dedication to the next level. They have introduced ice baths to their weekly routine, showing impressive commitment to proper recovery methods and demonstrating maturity and understanding of sports science principles.
I did wonder how they managed to get water cold enough ... and then I noticed the frozen packets of food being used as makeshift ice! While their creativity is commendable, we may need to chat about sourcing bags of ice in the future. I’ll will definitely pass on any meals you guys cook up in the near future. Well done on the initiative boys!
Getting to school
A few of our boarders use bikes to get to school, town, and to training. Nic and Gus McCure in Year 7 have been regularly riding their bikes to school, making excellent use of a healthy form of transport. It’s become a great way for them to incorporate physical fitness into their daily routine while enjoying a speedy commute and getting to school early.
Last week I mentioned the benefits of walking to school, but cycling offers the perfect combination of getting to school and around town quickly while building fitness at the same time. These boys have shown great initiative in bringing their bikes to the boardo and I encourage more to do so. It's wonderful to see them start each day with energy and arrive at school ready to learn. Well done, Nick and Gus.
