GRADUATING FROM EMC – RELFECTION OF YEAR 12s
“We stand here today on our last Koorie Christmas, as we venture off to build our own pathways.
Over the course of our 6 years spent at EMC, we experienced countless unforgettable moments, a few to mention Marley and I being fortunate enough to explore the beautiful Larrakia Country along with other Indigenous students as well as visiting the local legends on Tiwi islands, for Lara her most cherished memories at EMC is designing the EMC Combine Indigenous jerseys along with her brother Koby and Marley. A group memory we share together is the amazing girls at Weenthunga coming for a visit just yarn about health and wellbeing.
Something that will forever stand by us is the ongoing love and support we have gotten from our friends, family, the wider EMC community. To the Koorie students, our brothers and sisters, you guys are the reason we stand here today, through our time at EMC each and every one of you has made a difference no matter how big or small, the fabric of this school has and will forever be changed on the back of you legends. We thank you.
To our families, our lifetime supporters, we stand up here wishing we have made you proud. The opportunity we have been given today is one thing, but the outpouring of support we get from you is another. Your ongoing love and support have truly shaped us into the people we have become today. We thank you.
Now that we have left, we hope we’ve have made a difference in the EMC community and that we have made it a culturally safe space, throughout our time we have seen so much change for the better. One wish we share is for every student here today to feel as if they belong and have a place within the EMC community and to remember we are all on our own journey you don’t have to follow in anyone’s footsteps you can create your own path. As we venture off we hope to stay in close contact within the EMC community, you mob will forever hold a special place in our hearts.”
