Welcome back to school!  We hope you had a fantastic holiday break. 

Teachers and students have hit the ground running, with bands, ensembles and dance activities underway.

Years 1 & 2 have been creating dance moves to live music, playing games to help us recall everybody’s names, and we have started to look at “Alligator High, Alligator Low,” our first ensemble piece. 

Years 3 & 4 have played a great game called Musical Shoes, and started “The Hey Hey Jam,” a syncopated marimba piece that I have adapted to include percussion and pianos.

Years 5 & 6 have been working on a Techno piece called “Barbara Streisand,” by Duck Soup. I have been looking for individual talents and group cohesion. Already I can see improvements in musical abilities since Term 4, 2024.

Strings have begun, and the students are keen and very excited. Many thanks to Margaret Butcher, Liz Bonetti and all the Strings staff for having everything so well prepared. It is such a wonderful program.

Creative Music has also begun. Piano and guitar lessons occur in the Music Room after school Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
