PERFORMING ARTS

This term in Performing Arts, the students have had a lot of fun doing a variety of activities.
In junior school, we completed an Arts unit around the themes of Disco, Friendship and Scarecrows. Students were able to create their own characters/scenes and follow along to movement sequences to embrace these themes. The students revisited body percussion and percussion instruments, letting out their creative side as they followed along to guided videos, as well as being challenged to create and perform their own rhythms. Students have also been participating in drama games and have really enjoyed playing charades. It has been fantastic seeing the students have a red hot go and really embrace trying to act out their prompt without words.
In the senior school, we finalised our Dance unit, following along to a Machines in Motion unit from Ausdance Victoria. Over the span of 4 weeks, students learnt a movement sequence to an 8 count and learnt how to form a human version of Voltron, Defender of the Universe. Students then revisited drama and completed units of work from Drama Victoria. Students explored Status and Tension and how this applies in drama. Students completed worksheets with a variety of activities, creating scenes and scenarios to bring the ideas of status and tension to life.
I would like to say a big thank you to all students for welcoming me this semester. A highlight for me was our Celebration of the Arts evening, what an amazing night this turned out to be. I look forward to seeing you all in 2025.
