Wellbeing

Welcome to 2025!

We hope you have settled well into Term 1 😀

This year, the Wellbeing Team is continuing to support the holistic growth of our school community. Through our newsletter, we endeavour to keep you up to date with what we’ve been up to, as well as share information, tips and resources to support student wellbeing both in the classroom and at home.

We are so excited to journey together!

About Us

The Wellbeing Team is made up of a dedicated group of allied health and other professionals, including an Art Therapist, Psychologists, Social Workers, and Speech Therapists. The team also includes a Wellbeing and Engagement Officer, a Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader (who is a teacher with a focus on mental health), the Disability Inclusion Officer and a dedicated team of Inclusion Aides.

Working together, the Wellbeing Team helps create a supportive school environment by partnering with teachers, school leaders and parents* to recognise and respond to changes in students’ mental health and wellbeing, support developmental differences, and to support their communication challenges.

The team provides short-term counselling and early support for students experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges. To better understand a child’s strengths and challenges, the Wellbeing Team can conduct a variety of assessments to help guide appropriate support at school.  The team also runs individual and group interventions to support students in their social and emotional development, and communication skills.

For students with more complex needs, or those who may require longer term or ongoing therapy, the Wellbeing Team can provide information on other school and community health professionals and services to help families access the right help when needed.

The Wellbeing Team will always seek informed consent from legal guardians before working with students. However, in the event of a critical incident where immediate support is required, a team member may see a child without prior consent. In these situations, parents and/or legal guardians will be contacted and provided with relevant information as soon as possible.

*Note: TRPS acknowledges that families come in many forms. We generally use the term ‘parent’ to include biological, adoptive, foster and kinship carers of a child, and other caregivers who have chosen to take up primary or shared responsibility in raising the children who attend our school. We note however that we are sometimes required to seek consent from legal guardians.
