Student Wellbeing

Following the FARM Code
Our term 1 whole school focus is the F in the FARM Code. All the students at SMCM know that the F in the FARM code stands for being friendly, fair, and flexible.
Friendships give school-age children a sense of belonging. They also build children’s self-esteem and develop their social skills.
Your child’s world gets bigger when they are at school. Relationships with other people – like the children in your child’s school homegroup become more important.
Friendships are good for your school-age child’s self-concept and esteem. When your child has close friends, your child feels like they belong. Your child’s friends care about your child, and this helps your child feel good about themselves.
Friendships also help children develop important life skills like getting along with other people and sorting out conflicts and problems.
Play is a big part of how children connect with others and make friends at school. Taking part in games at break times can help your child get to know their schoolmates and settle into school more easily. Your child will learn about taking turns, sharing, and cooperating. When issues arise in the yard, teachers are present to support children to problem solve or manage friendship conflicts. Restorative conversations with an adult occur when students are unable to reconcile their friendship challenges.
Frozen Friday begins this week. Bring a gold coin and receive a Zooper Dooper. Donations contribute to the running of the SMCM fair.
Learning Diversity
PSG Meetings:
A friendly reminder to the parents who received and email on Tuesday afternoon to book a Term 1 PSG meeting, please do so by tomorrow, Friday 21st Feb.
Allied Health documentation:
At SMCM we support families by allowing allied health professionals to come into school to work with your children, however there is documentation that needs to completed before these appointments commence. Please inform Jess if you would like your child to see their allied health specialist at school.
