Prep Information Evening: Presentation and Video

I want to reiterate Claire's words in the Principal's News and say it was wonderful to meet our Prep families. As promised, we have attached the Slideshow Presentation as a PDF and included the First 12 Days of Prep video created by our Prep teachers.

Year Level Parent Information Handout

Last Friday 14th February, a hard copy of your child's Parent Information Handout was provided for all Year 1-6 families. For a digital copy, feel free to save them using the links provided below.

NAPLAN

The upcoming National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) for 2025 will commence on Wednesday 12th March. NAPLAN is a nationwide assessment that evaluates essential skills in reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar, and punctuation), and numeracy for students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9.

At SMCM, we have scheduled the following tests for our Year 3 and 5 students:

DateTest
Wednesday 12th MarchWriting
Thursday 13th March

Reading &

Conventions of Language

Friday 14th MarchNumeracy
Monday 17th - Monday 24th MarchCatch-up assessments*

*Rafael will organise catch-up sessions for students who missed previously scheduled tests. These tests must be completed by Monday 24th March.

To ensure your child feels as comfortable and well-prepared as possible, teachers will have discussions about NAPLAN with their students, including familiarising them with the online interface and giving them opportunities to do practice tests.

You can support your child by encouraging a positive attitude towards the assessments and ensuring they have adequate rest during the testing period. For more detailed information for families, please visit 2025 NAPLAN Information for Parents and Carers.

Our teaching staff and leadership team have been actively collaborating to analyse student data collected from the beginning of the year and through daily lessons. This ongoing analysis provides valuable insights into your child's progress and helps identify areas where additional support may be needed. When we receive the NAPLAN results, they will serve as an important addition to our comprehensive approach to assessing student learning.

We appreciate your support in helping our students achieve their best during NAPLAN 2025. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
