Principal's Report

 - Tania Sorbello

It’s that time of year again, where illness rears its head and spreads through grades and cohorts like wildfire. A reminder that if your child is sick, or is displaying cold and flu symptoms, please conduct a RAT test and keep your child home whilst they are unwell.

This week I had the opportunity to work with a group of Principals on better understanding Maths Anxiety and strategies schools can use to minimise these feelings, not only for children, but for adults too. As a staff, we will be exploring how we can best support children to engage with mathematical learning and we can’t wait to share some more information about our learning with you soon.

Congratulations to all of our students who performed incredibly well at the District Cross Country competition yesterday. We have four students moving on to compete at a divisional level and we can’t wait to cheer them on as they continue their Cross Country Journey.

Student Attitudes to School Survey

It’s that time of year again when we provide our Year 4 – 6 students with the opportunity to provide feedback about their experience at school. The survey allows the students to share their feedback in the areas of learning, peer and social relationships, relationships with staff, along with mental health and wellbeing.

Later this year, when results come through, this data provides the school with important information about student perceptions of their school experience and points of future focus and growth.

We are aiming to complete the survey between 20th – 31st May for our year 4-6 students. Please reach out if you have any questions about the data collection process.

Music Update

Tanya D has been working with our Senior School Students in the FNPS Rock Band. We are really excited to have our band back up and running this term and can’t wait for them to perform at the end of term assembly.

Tanya has also been working with our 1/2 students and 3/4 students as our choirs begin this term. Like the rock band, our students are very engaged in developing their musical skills and understandings and we certainly have some incredibly talented individuals inside our gates. The choirs will also be performing for the community at assemblies and our Little Long Walk later this term.

Mobile Phones / Smart Watches

Parents are reminded that, in accordance with the Department of Education and Training policy, students are not permitted to be in possession of mobile phones and smart watches throughout the school day. Therefore, all devices must be handed in to teachers prior to school starting and will be returned at the conclusion of the school day.

That’s it for me, to our Orthodox families, I wish you a Happy Easter, and I’ll see you all next week.

Go gently,

Tania
