Last Friday 3GR visited Harold and reflected on how they could make changes to their lives in order to be healthier. Read some reflections below.

Science in Year 2

The Year 2 students have been learning about different toys as part of their Physical Science unit: A Toy Story. They have been investigating the movement of objects and exploring push and pull forces. Last week, the students made Straw Rockets to explore the concept of gravity. They had to blow the rocket through the straw to find out how it would move. They learnt that gravity pulled the rocket down while the force from the air blown down the straw, pushed the rocket forward.  They investigated the following:

  • What happens to the straw rocket if you point it straight up?
  • Does it fly differently if you point it horizontally?
  • What happens if you add weight to the straw rocket?
