Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to Term 2. Hope you had some quality time with family and friends, and had a chance to recharge your mind and body ready for another great term of learning.
At the beginning of the school holidays, the Christian faith celebrated Easter. Easter celebrates the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. It is through life, death and resurrection that believers are given the hope of life after death, eternal life. The resurrection of Jesus provides hope for all believers that life as we know it will be changed, not ended, when we die.
As a faith and learning community, we will continue to explore the stories that recall the final days of Jesus’ earthly life.
An invitation is extended to the whole school community to attend the ANZAC Day Commemorative Service at the Coburg RSL at 10:30am. Some of our school leaders will be present to lay an ‘ANZAC wreath' at the war memorial as a way to remember those who have lost their lives serving Australia in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.
WEDNESDAY, 24th April 10:30am
As mentioned in last term's newsletter, we will be having a whole school ANZAC Day Commemorative Service in Hawthorn Yard. This will be held in front of our new flagpoles and memorial garden at 10:30am, immediately after our whole school Mass at 9:15am, where we will celebrate the Feast of Saint Fidelis.
Last year, we built a memorial garden, planting significant roses and plants that represent remembrance and the Spirit of Gallipoli. We installed two flag poles to honor the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women who served in war.
Mr Peter Khalil, Federal Labour Member for WIlls and Mr Michael Pianta, President of the Coburg RSL, will attend our school's ANZAC Day ceremony to speak to the students, families and staff and present us with our grant of $6,450.00.
This ceremony will be led by the Year 5/6 students. It would be great to have as many parents, carers and friends as possible join our community.

Families and communities are informed and involved in promoting child safety and wellbeing
There are many examples of the ways in which we as a community promote and inform the community of our childsafe practices. As you enter our school, you will see the Catholic Schools Child Safe Schools commitment displayed. This states we are committed to providing a safe and nurturing culture for all children and young people in our school. This is enacted through upholding the primacy of safety and wellbeing of all children, empowering families and children to have a voice if they have concerns and implementing rigorous risk management and employment practices.
Thank you to all the families who have partially or fully paid their school fees. As mentioned previously the school has paid for all of your children's stationary upfront and prompt payment of the first installment would be most appreciated.
