Kinder/Year 1
All Saints’ students eagerly anticipate the arrival of autumn, as it brings a delightful transformation to our school playground. The fluttering leaves offer endless excitement and inspire boundless creativity among our little learners.
With the change in seasons, our curriculum blossoms with diverse learning opportunities across various subjects and these are being celebrated during K/1 Creative Arts sessions. With the visual text “Leaf Man” we follow Leaf Man's journey as he is blown across different landscapes, fostering a deeper understanding of our local geography.
Our curious minds explore the science behind the changing leaves, engaging in lively discussions about their characteristics and transformations. Through hands-on activities, we classify leaves and unravel the mathematical patterns within nature's beauty.
But the learning doesn't stop there! We unleash our imagination by crafting our own leafy creatures and experimenting with cyanotype paper for enchanting prints. (Shhhh Mother’s Day secret!) Through movement and music, we dance and sway like leaves, discovering the harmony between our bodies and the natural world.
In every leaf, there's a story waiting to be told, and in every activity, there's a lesson to be learned. As we embrace the wonders of autumn, we cultivate a love for learning that stretches beyond the classroom and into the vibrant tapestry of nature.
