Every day on 25 April, ANZAC Day, people have a combination of emotions such as respect, gratitude, humility, pride, sadness and discontent.  The actions of Australians in the battles at Gallipoli helped to shape what became known as the Anzac legend.  This day is an opportunity to commemorate the service and sacrifice of all Australians in wars, conflicts and peace operations.

On Friday 19 April, Middle School Leaders and Mr Dickinson attended the Melbourne Legacy's 92nd Annual ANZAC Commemoration for Students at the Shrine of Remembrance.  Oakleigh Grammar students joint other Secondary and Primary school students from Victoria in keeping the ANZAC Spirit alive by commemorating ANZAC Day and the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who have served our country.

The Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, Governor of Victoria addressed the students and the ceremony included Defence Force Cadets, school bands and choirs and a RAAF fly-over.

On Thursday 25 April Senior, Middle and Junior School Captains had an early started by attending the Dawn Service in Oakleigh organised by Oakleigh and Carnegie RSL.  On behalf of our school community students laid a wreath at the Oakleigh Memorial Cenotaph.

On the same day, selected students had the privilege to attend and take part in the ANZAC Parade.  Our students marched with 2/2 Field Regiment Association down St Kilda Road, starting from Collins Street and concluding at the Shrine.  Students felt so proud for this special opportunity.  It was a very emotional experienced for our students attending this big event and having the honour to be around thousands of veterans and current serving army defences.

Congratulations to all students who took part to the 109th commemoration anniversary of Anzac Day.
