Year 7 UR Strong incursion

by Mr Nic Barca, Head of Junior School

In Week 5, our Year 7 students participated in the UR Strong incursion, presented by Tyson Greenwood. This engaging and interactive session focused on positive peer relationships at school. The presentation covered using appropriate language, understanding different perspectives when friendships break down through case studies, and managing emotions.

Tyson presented these four key facts about friendships:

  • No friendship is perfect
  • Every friendship is different
  • Trust and respect are the two most important qualities of a friendship
  • Friendships change, and that's okay!

Students were also introduced to the "Friend-o-metre," a tool to help determine if friendships are healthy or toxic and to learn how to handle toxic situations.

We hope this session was informative and helpful for our Year 7 students as they navigate new and exciting friendships at school. Knowing how to handle these situations is an important life skill, empowering positive choices both in the schoolyard and the classroom.
