Living to our values

Meaning and Purpose

by Mr Michael Oaten, Assistant Principal

Respect, Creativity, Resilience and Growth underpin all that we do at Box Hill High School.

Our values have been developed in partnership with our school community and they are the basis of what our staff and students strive towards every day. At Box Hill High School, we don’t just talk about our values - we live and breathe them and use them to guide professional conversations and in providing behavioural and learner feedback with our students.

They are not the destination - they are our compass and guide continual school improvement. Whether in classrooms, corridors, staff meetings or in the yard, our school values permeate every aspect of our school culture which leads to finding meaning and purpose in our learning and work.

RespectOur cornerstone for fostering an inclusive and supportive teaching and learning environment.

Creativity: Encouraged, celebrated and embedded in our curriculum to promote innovation and critical thinking.

Resilience: Empowering our students to take on challenges and risks in their learning, whilst teaching our students that resilience is the willingness to feel uncomfortable emotions as we do something meaningful.

GrowthWe encourage our staff and students to set goals that are meaningful with the purpose of continual improvement.
