Year 10 Student Reflection – RYDA Excursion

Last Tuesday 8 May, Year 10 was lucky enough to go on the RYDA Safe Driving Workshop.

This workshop was a fantastic experience that I am very grateful for having the opportunity to go on. For the boys that are yet to get their L’s, this was a great way to introduce them to the road, with the rules as well as experiences that come with that. And for the boys, such as myself, who are already on their L’s, this day helped strengthen our knowledge of the road rules, as well as show us the experiences of others similar to our age.

The day was split into six period-like lessons, each having their own focus and style, all of which could be combined into a couple of key takeaways that will stick with us throughout our driving experience. Each student was given a small booklet that would needed to fill out throughout the day.

The day was a way for the boys to get any questions they had about the road and safety, answered. I hope all the boys got as much out of the day as I did, or at least that they took some key information away from it.

This was an opportunity that not many people get to have, and I think it has had a positive impact on everyone. It has allowed those who don't yet drive to get a better understanding of what is to come, and for those who do have their L’s it has granted us an opportunity to stay safer and have some more confidence on the road. I am very grateful to all of the staff who came on the trip with us and am also very thankful to all of the RYDA staff who accommodated and taught us throughout the day.
