Mother’s Day

It was so wonderful to see so many mothers, grandmothers, and carers at Mother’s Day Mass at Rosehill Gardens last Friday. Once again, we see the strength of our community as we come together to celebrate the amazing women in our lives who nurture, provide, and give strength to all our young men. To see our young men sitting next to their mothers holding their hands truly shows the special bond that exists between a mother and her son. Mothers give us a sense of safety as they are always there for us, even in our toughest moments. There is nothing more special than a mother’s unconditional love for her child.

On Sunday I was able to celebrate with the special women in my life. My family was able to give thanks to my mother, my wife and my sister-in-law who are the glue that hold our family together. As I said last week, being surrounded by family is something we should not take for granted. I have a special bond with my mother. I can honestly say that I call her every day just to check in to see how she is doing. She is always interested in what I am doing, and I am blessed to have that special bond with my mother.

This time of year, I also reflect upon those mother figures who have passed. I often think of my grandmothers. I know they would be looking down on my family from above and be smiling knowing that their beautiful great grandchildren are growing up into amazing young men and women shaped in their spirit through us as parents.
