Walk Safe to School Day - Friday 22 May
Well it’s that time of year again when our school seriously starts talking about walking!
Walk Safely to School Day asks that we all consider our transport habits and try to incorporate more walking as part of a healthy, active way to get around. Although walking all the way to school isn’t realistic for many of us, it’s quite easy to figure out how you can build a walk into your family’s daily routine.
You can teach your child the healthy habit of walking more by:
• Walking with them the whole way to school.
• If they get the bus or train, walk past your usual stop and get on at the next stop.
• If you have to drive, park the car a few blocks away from the school and walk the rest of the way.
Regular exercise like walking with your child not only helps them (and you!) beat chronic problems like obesity, heart disease, behavioural and mental health issues and diabetes. It also gives you a great opportunity to teach your child safe ways to behave around roads and traffic.
You are invited to meet us at one of the three locations below at 8am on Friday 22 May. Together, students, parents and staff will then walk to school arriving in time for the school day and a free breakfast courtesy of our P&F.
Parents are advised to supervise and walk with their children. If they are unable to do so, please give verbal permission to the staff members at the meeting location Friday morning.
We look forward to see as many families as possible actively travelling on this day and we hope that the meeting locations and walking routes to school start healthy habits for everyone!

Inform & Empower Cyber Safety & Digital Wellbeing Program
As part of our ongoing commitment to student wellbeing and online safety, students will continue participating in the Inform & Empower Cyber Safety & Digital Wellbeing Program throughout 2026. Inform & Empower is endorsed by the eSafety Commissioner as a Trusted eSafety Provider. Many families will already be familiar with this program and the valuable learning it supports across the school year.
Through live-streamed incursions each Term, students explore important topics including:
digital literacy
healthy digital habits
critical thinking
cyberbullying
online security
consent
artificial intelligence
help-seeking strategies
Attached below are the Term 2 parent resources, designed to support families in continuing these important conversations at home. These resources provide helpful information, discussion starters and practical strategies to encourage safe, respectful and positive online behaviours.
Respectful Relationships – Help-Seeking
Teachers and students across the school have been exploring Help-Seeking as part of the Victorian Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR) curriculum. A key focus of this topic is helping students understand when and how to seek help, who they can trust and how to support others.
Students in Prep:
• identified when they may need to seek help and who they could approach for help
• practised seeking help from adults and peers.

Students in Year 1 and Year 2:
• practised solving simple interpersonal problems identifying ways to care for others, including ways of making and keeping friends
• discussed the importance of seeking help when dealing with problems that are too big to solve alone.

Students in Year 3 and Year 4:
• practised communication skills that enhance peer support and help-seeking
• identified a range of help-seeking strategies to negotiate positive outcomes to problems
• discussed the concept of peer support and identify situations where it is appropriate to adopt this role

Students in Year 5 and Year 6:
• identified situations where they should seek help in working through problems
• identified a list of trusted people to seek out when needing help.
“The help-seeking behaviours of children and young people are fundamental to their mental health and wellbeing. Encouraging and fostering help-seeking behaviours is one way to improve mental health and wellbeing.”
