We pray to Mary...

For peace in our country...

for the beauty of our country and its weather...

for our standard of living ... for freedom of religion...

for our young people and our older people...

for our parents and families and values passed down to us...

for our multicultural nation... for our indigenous brothers and sisters...

Mary, Help of Christians... Pray for us...

Amen

Today is the feast day of Our Lady, Help of Christians. This feast, celebrated every year on May 24th, dates all the way back to the sixteenth century.

The early Church in Australia  had many reasons to pray to Mary for her guidance and intercessions. Our patronesse affectionally known as "Our Lady of the Southern Cross" was chosen as Patroness of Australasia by the First Provincial Synod, convened by Archbishop Bede Polding, in Sydney in 1844.

Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week 2024 runs from May 20 - May 25, this time is a dedicated week for celebrating what makes our Catholic Schools great.  A time to raise awareness about the multitude of opportunities that Catholic schools provide to our young people and our community to experience a faith-based education.

We remind all of our stakeholders of the importance of partnership between the first educators of our young people.. YOU.... and the school.

This event marks a time to celebrate the achievements of our school communities and acknowledge the people dedicated to providing quality learning and a nurturing environment for every student and staff member across our system of schools.

Catholic Schools ensure each and every student is known and receives a quality education in a supportive environment where each student has the opportunity to grow academically, spiritually, physically and emotionally.

During Catholic Schools Week (CSW) the Armidale Catholic School system will celebrate with 3 Deanery masses at Tamworth, Moree and Armidale.

Due to our Athletics Carnival being conducted on Thursday when the Armidale Deanery Mass is on, Mrs Lockwood and Mrs Nugent will travel to Tamworth with two Year Six student leaders to represent St Mary of the Angels at the first Deanery mass on the Tuesday 28th May.

Our very own, Christopher W will be reading the Prayers of the Faithful.

Director of Schools, Regina Menz, said “Our theme Pray with Hope resonates deeply with our Vision: ‘A Christ-centred inclusive learning community that supports young people to realise a hope-filled future.’ In this special week, I thank every member of our school and parish community, students, staff, clergy, and our families for the vital role you play in Catholic education in the Armidale Diocese."

We look forward to continuing to share the aspects of our school that make us a caring and supportive community, where all of our young people work towards a hope-filled future.
