This Sunday is PENTECOST, the day we celebrate Jesus' sending of the Holy Spirit to help His disciples. Pentecost is often called the birthday of the Church because it is when the disciples received the Holy Spirit - the force that turned a bunch of frightened, mixed-up people into church. There was a rush of wind, tongues of fire, and then suddenly there was courage, knowledge, direction and commitment! These were saints suddenly on fire with the Holy Spirit. They were sent out to spread the news of Jesus' life, death, Resurrection and Ascension.
This weekend, the Year 6 students reflect on the gifts that they have received and ask the Holy Spirit to guide them on their faith journey as they prepare for Confirmation. We too can share our giftedness with others and together, continue to build up our church.
