IB Learner Profile Attributes

Find out more about what it means to be a learner in an IB World School....

This week, our Year Four Team share with us how they represent the learner profile attribute Inquirer.

The Year Four Teaching Team - Inquirers

What an inquirer means to us;

When we are inquirers we:

  • Ask questions
  • Be curious
  • Want to know more
  • Make connections
  • Find out independently, in pairs, small groups or together

Ways our team have recently been inquirers:

David Underwood-Harris - delving into new topics; I recently became an inquirer into the design and construction of audio speakers so that I could find the best sound to play my vinyl records.

Claire Taylor - when students ask questions I don’t know the answer to - yet! I always say, ‘let’s find out’ and we find out together.

Imogen Westcott - figuring out different ways to grow vegetables on my very small balcony at home. There has been lots of research and trial and error.

Angela Collins - planning an overseas holiday, inquiring into places to visit, timings of events, exploring the idea of learning a new language, costings for everything!

Shannon Garner - researching all things home improvement! Who knew there was so much choice and information out there when it comes to new carpets or split systems.

Student Quotes:

“I am an inquirer when I keep on learning and finding out more - even when I don’t have to.” Zara H, 4HC

“I’m an inquirer in maths - I learned a new strategy to make number towers to solve addition.” Mia, 4SG

“I’m an inquirer when I’m learning a new unit of inquiry. I find out new things from books and form ideas.” Mason, 4IW

“I’m an inquirer when I’m learning a new game in Healthy Active Kids. I ask questions to make sure I know everything.” Reuben, 4CT

Watch out over the coming weeks for different teams showing you how they represent the learner profile attributes!
