Performing Arts
Hi Everyone!
Just a quick one from me this week…
Foundation
Foundation students have started their new linked unit of inquiry ‘Senses help us explore the world’. This week, students explored their sense of touch and played with clay. Below are some pictures of the students exploring with their sense of touch.
Year One and Two
Year One and Two students are deep in rehearsal for their ‘Dance Maps’. Students are in small groups of three. Over the next few weeks, students will have a turn at teaching (directing) their Dance Map to their group and then performing it to music.
Year Three and Four
Year Three and Four students have been practising their Hip Hop routines. Students learnt a 16-step Hip Hop sequence initially. They then added to this sequence with their own 8-counts, dance formations and poses. This week students will perform their Hip Hop routines to the class.
Year Five
The Year Fives have been having lots of fun creating their class ‘Flash Mobs’. Over the last few weeks, students have created a series of 8-counts within a small group. Next week, we will join these 8-counts together with other groups to create a class Flash Mob and add music.
Year Six
It was the ARTS swap over for the Year Sixes this week. Students have been introduced to their exciting new unit - Clowning. Students learnt about the theatre techniques - mime and melodrama - and used them throughout a Clowning workshop where they were introduced to the two Clown types (Auguste and White Face). Students also learnt the requirements for their Clowning Routine. They must include a Big Entrance, Introduction, Problem, Solution and Big Grand Exit.
