Chev Need to Knows
24 May 2024
Monday 27 May is not a Flipped Monday and all students are required to attend school. Students should come prepared for Day 10 in their timetables.
The College Athletics Carnival is a compulsory event, and all students are expected to attend. If the carnival is cancelled parents will be advised via Parent Orbit/Parent Lounge and students should come prepared for Day 4 in their timetables.
Students who wish to participate in competitive events must register via Sports Tracker. Registrations close Monday 27 May at 3.30pm. Students who do not register to participate competitively will have the opportunity to earn house points in field events should time permit.
Uniform
All students are to travel to and from school in their full sports uniform or full winter uniform. Students can change into house colours once at school.
Students should bring a hat and sunscreen and are responsible for their own sun safety.
Home Room
Students competing in the 1500m race DO NOT go to home room. When they arrive at school, they should proceed straight to the marshalling area on Far Avenue to begin racing at 8.50am sharp.
All other students should go to home room as normal.
BBQ lunch
A fundraising BBQ will be held to raise money for the ‘Remote Op Shop Clothing Drive’. EFT and cash payment options will be available.
There will be no canteen on the day. Students should bring sufficient water and snacks for the day as access to the BBQ will be limited and scheduled by age group.
Additional events
The 3000m, Long Jump and Triple Jump events will not be held on the day of the Carnival. Students will be advised of the day and time for these events via Daily Notices.
Hurdles events will not be run at a school level. Any student wishing to compete in hurdles at the ISA Carnival will be asked to submit an official time from a sanctioned competition.
Spectators
Spectators are welcome to attend and we recommend you bring your own seating. Spectators are asked to not approach carnival officials on the day and spectate from a suitable distance from the competition areas.
Parent Orbit is now the only location for absentee notifications and excursion permissions. It is also your central hub for important College communications and information. The app integrates seamlessly with Parent Lounge which is a web-based version of Parent Orbit.
If you haven't downloaded the app yet, or need some help in navigating Parent Orbit and Parent Lounge, please go to Parent Portal on our website.
If you encounter any difficulties during the download or setup process, we now have a dedicated email for assistance parentportal@chevalier.nsw.edu.au.
To help us keep our students safe, we are appealing to parents to not drop-off or pick-up your children on Charlotte Street. It is a very busy street during school zone times with increased bus activity and limited parking zones.
All students should be dropped off and picked up at either Pick Up Point A (off Moss Vale Road) or Pick Up Point B (off Eridge Park Road).
Please also be aware that police randomly patrol School Zones to ensure compliance with road safety rules.
Thank you for your continued cooperation.
Beginning in Term 3, we intend to run a TRIAL express direct bus service from our campus to Wilton (return).
If you know someone interested in being a casual bus driver, please share this link: https://www.chevalier.nsw.edu.au/our-college/employment-opportunities/
This term, the College will be raising funds and goods for the Vinnies Winter Appeal. Australia’s current cost of living crisis means that more and more families are struggling to meet basic needs such as food and a warm place to stay. Coupled with a crisis in the rental market (less than 1% of rentals are affordable for a person on the minimum wage), Vinnies and other services are seeing an unprecedented increase in demand for support. Every donation will help provide much needed assistance to those in the community doing it tough.
Students and families are invited to contribute to the Winter Appeal in one of the following ways during Weeks 5-8 (27 May - 20 June).
Every little bit counts.
Families and Chevalier Past Students are invited to celebrate Sacred Heart Day with us. Please join us as we celebrate this important Feast Day with the wider Missionaries of the Sacred Heart community.

We understand it is not always convenient to make it to the College for events, especially for those in our outlying towns and villages.
We’re excited to announce our ‘Town Talks’ with the Principal.
Greg will be visiting outlying towns over the rest of this year and warmly invites parents and prospective families to an informal conversation and Q&A session.
