Cultural Learning Plan Meeting

Thank you to all the parents and students that attended our first Cultural Learning Plan meeting last week. It is great to have the parents involved in their child's Cultural Learning journey. 

 

For those parents that were unable to make it in Stage 2 & 3, I will send the Cultural Learning Plan home with your child to complete together and return to the office. 

 

For those parents that were unable to attend in Kindergarten and Stage 1, I will call you throughout the week to discuss your child's Cultural Learning Plan. 

 

 

Wii Gaay Zoom with Karla McGrady 

Karla McGrady is a Gamilaraay/Kamilaroi woman residing on the lands of the Yuggera/Jagera people. She is currently the Innovation Manager, working within the Innovation Directorate at Our Watch. Karla has been painting for many years, sharing stories from her homelands around Northern NSW, Kamilaroi country, about the landscape, bush food, animals and sacred sites, such as Boobera Lagoon. Karla spoke to the children about the importance of stopping and taking in nature and the environment around us, she said that this is where she draws inspiration from for her painting. 

 

Our next Wii Gaay Zoom will be the 26th of June, special guest is to be confirmed. 

Conference Performance Group 

The Conference Performance Group gathered at St Edwards Primary School last week to participate in their second practice for their upcoming performance at the 2024 Catholic Schools NSW Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Conference,to be heldin Tamworth at the TREC in Term 4. They had a special guest, Kayleb Waters-Sampson, who is choreographing their performance and teaching them their dance along with students from St Nicholas and St Edwards. Thank you to Mrs Stacey Power for joining us for the day! 

 

 

NAIDOC WEEK 2024

This year we will be celebrating NAIDOC Week in week 10 this Term (1st July - 5th July). We will be having our NAIDOC Week Liturgy at 10:30am on Monday the 1st of July.  

 

There will be a note sent home to the students performing what they are required to bring to school as well as a permission note to have their faces painted for the slideshow.
