2025 PULiiMA Indigenous Language and Technology Conference - Darwin
This year’s conference, held on the stunning Larrakia Country in Darwin, was proudly attended by St Joseph’s Walgett Aboriginal Education Assistants, Uncle John Brown and Whitney Skuthorpe, along with Principal Donna Fiechtner. Their powerful presentation, "Revitalising Language and Culture in Remote Education," was exceptionally well received and deserves high commendation.
Also in attendance were Aboriginal Education Assistants from St Philomena’s Moree - Georgette Lysaght, McCarthy Catholic College Tamworth - Lisa Smith, St Edward’s Tamworth Brittany Cloake and Jarrod Peachey, St Xavier’s Narrabri Madeleine Simmonds-Cutts, St Joseph’s Wee Waa - Caitlin Smith, St Mary’s Armidale - Emma Widders and St Joseph’s Warialda - Kahlia Whalan and SME: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education K-6 Jolene Faint. These educators will return to their communities inspired and equipped to continue nurturing and preserving language and culture, keeping the fire of language burning brightly in their schools.
