Wednesday 24 September | Gosnells Golf Club
Our Year 10 cohort will come together for their Dinner–Dance on Wednesday 24 September at Gosnells Golf Club, a milestone occasion that celebrates friendship, effort and the growing maturity of this group. Students can expect a relaxed evening with plenty of time to share a meal, talk, and enjoy the dance floor. As with all school functions, our code of conduct applies; we ask students to represent the College with pride and courtesy from arrival to departure. Thank you in advance to Mrs Ellett and the staff who are volunteering their time, and to parents and caregivers for your support. We look forward to an evening that strengthens connections across the year group.
Wednesday 22 October | departing 5.00 pm
Our senior students will enjoy a memorable River Cruise on Wednesday 22 October. Buses will depart the College at 5.00 pm for Barrack Street Jetty, so punctual arrival at school is essential. The cruise offers a chance to unwind together while taking in the city lights, with music, conversation and views along the Swan providing the backdrop to a safe, supervised evening on the water. Further information about what to wear, what to bring and return-to-school timing will be sent to families closer to the date, along with reminders regarding consent, medical information and expectations for conduct and phone use. As always, our focus is on creating an inclusive event where every student feels comfortable and welcome. Thank you to Mrs Merry and to families for supporting this opportunity; we look forward to a calm and enjoyable night that adds to the shared memories of our senior years.
On Tuesday afternoon, our student leadership candidates delivered their speeches to peers and staff, speaking for two to three minutes each about service, vision and the daily habits that make a difference in our community. It was a privilege to hear from such a thoughtful field: students spoke with courage and authenticity, drawing on their experiences and outlining practical ideas to strengthen connection across the College. The quality of the presentations was outstanding, and we commend every student who nominated for the maturity and goodwill they brought to the process. Voting is now open to eligible students and closes today. Once votes are counted and candidates have been notified, we will share the outcomes with the community. Thank you to the staff who supported students in preparing their speeches and to the many classmates who encouraged them—your respectful listening and enthusiastic support set exactly the right tone.
OLNA catch-up tests will be held on Monday. Students who are required to attend will receive an email with details of times and locations; if no email is received, attendance is not needed. Please contact the College if your child is unwell or has an unavoidable clash so we can make alternative arrangements.
Warm regards,
Mr Jonathan Hunt
Acting Head of Middle School (Year 10 and Year 11)
