A Message from the Principal

Dear Families and Friends,
The past fortnight has been a rich reminder of the many ways our College community gathers, learns, and celebrates together.
On Friday 5 September, we welcomed many of our dads and father figures to campus for our Father’s Day morning tea in the CAS. It was wonderful to see so many children proudly sharing this time with the important men in their lives. Father figures—whether they are dads, grandfathers, uncles, older brothers, or family friends—play a vital role in the lives of children at every stage of their journey. For our youngest in Kindergarten, it may be the security of a hand to hold and a voice that reassures. For our primary-aged students, it is often encouragement to try new things, to persevere, and to develop resilience. And for our teenagers, father figures often provide the wisdom of perspective, gentle guidance when choices become complex, and the reminder that they are loved and supported unconditionally. We are grateful for the countless ways our fathers and father figures help shape character, nurture confidence, and instil values that last a lifetime.
On Monday, our Year 5 students travelled to New Norcia for their retreat. I had the privilege of joining them for part of the day, and it was wonderful to share in the sense of stillness and reflection that New Norcia offers. The students were able to visit sacred spaces, including the crypt, and to join the monks for their midday prayer. These experiences encouraged them to pause, listen, and connect their own journey of faith with the story of our Patron, Dom Rosendo Salvado. I am grateful to Mrs Davies, Mrs Weaire, Ms Robinson, and Mrs Pitman for accompanying the students and guiding them so thoughtfully throughout the day. It was a joy to witness the faith, curiosity, and wonder that our students carried with them during this special experience.
In sport, our Secondary students represented the College at the ACC Athletics Carnival on Thursday 4 September, achieving a respectful 4th place overall. Their commitment, perseverance, and sportsmanship were commendable. I thank the dedicated staff who trained and supported them, and congratulate all who participated.
Thank you to every student, staff member, and family who continues to bring our College values to life in these moments of faith, learning, and community. Together, we are shaping an environment where every child feels supported to grow, contribute, and flourish.
With every blessing,
Ms Giovanna Fiume
College Principal
