R U OK @ MPS

I am incredibly proud as the Principal of Meadows Primary School to share the outstanding turnout and spirit we witnessed at our R U OK? whole school breakfast this week. It was certainly a memorable first experience for me and I look forward to being a part of many more whole school R U OK? days.

A huge thank you to every family who joined us in person. Your presence, warm smiles, and ongoing partnership reinforce the connections and strengths of our school community. The breakfast was more than just a meal, it was a powerful reminder that we look after one another, celebrate our students, and support each other's wellbeing every day.

Special thanks to MacKillop Family Services for providing some delicious breakfast items that we could share with our community. We are also grateful for the beautiful flowers that decorated our breakfast tables which added colour and warmth to the morning. 

I also want to say a big THANK YOU to Melissa Kosteas, our Community Hub Coordinator whose thoughtful planning, high level organisation and tireless behind the scenes work, made this event run smoothly and seamlessly. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated Hub Coordinator. Your efforts never go unnoticed Melissa. 

To our amazing staff who stepped up and supported, THANK YOU. From setting up, serving breakfast to cleaning up your dedication and care shone through. You created a welcoming atmosphere as you engaged in thoughtful conversations with families and students. 

Strong community makes Meadows Primary School a place where every child and adult feels seen, safe and valued. 

STAFFING UPDATE

Angela Haines:

I would like to share that Angela Haines, one of our dedicated teachers at Meadows Primary School, will be ending her time with us. Angela has started at Meadows Primary School in 2024 and has made the decision to resign from the Department of Education to pursue other opportunities. 

Ms Haines has been a committed educator who strongly advocates for all her students. Her calm and professional interactions with students, families and staff have been a core strength of Ms Haines. Her positive impact on her students and colleagues will be remembered and valued.

Thank you, Ms Angie, for your hard work and the positive contributions you have made during your time at Meadows Primary School. We wish you every success in the next chapter of your journey.

We are currently in the process of recruiting another teacher that can step into the 3/4A classroom for the beginning of term four. We thank you our families for their understanding and support. 

Raquel Biggar:

Ms Raquel Bigger stepped in to one of our 5/6 classrooms this term and had every intention to continue her time teaching here at Meadows Primary School until the end of this year. For personal reasons Ms Bigger will be moving interstate and unfortunately will not be returning in term four. 

Although her time with us was brief, Ms Bigger showed commitment to our school community and student learning. 

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks on behalf of the school community for her contributions. We wish Ms Biggar continued success and safe travels. 

Carol Williams:

Ms Williams, our Meadows PS Business Manager has taken some personal leave until the end of term three. We wish Carol a restful break and look forward to her return.

In Ms William's absence, I want to say a huge thank you and acknowledge the wonderful efforts of Suzie Spirova as the Acting Business Manager.

SCHOOL UNIFORM and FOOTWEAR

As we come to the end of another great term, I would like to remind families about school uniform and footwear to ensure that every student stays safe, comfortable, and ready to learn at the beginning of term four.

Uniform Expectations 

• Check that your child has their full uniform on before they arrive at school.
• Inspect footwear to ensure they are snug secure and appropriate for school activities. For safety students should wear well-fitting runners or appropriate school shoes with secure laces or straps. 

• Crocs and other loose fitting open heel or slip on shoes are not considered safe or allowed for school. 

   

Wearing our school uniform promotes equity and reducers peer pressure related to fashion. It supports as schools’ safety policies and supervision standards, particularly when we are off site or during whole school events when we have families and community members also present on site. 

Please note families may use their school bonus and Smith family scholarships to support with purchasing school uniform. If you need assistance with uniform items, please reach out to the school office.
