School Council Report

Highlights for the Community
Principal’s Report
The meeting opened with a discussion on the Principal’s Report.
Parent feedback has been taken onboard, and parent teacher interviews will be increased to 15 minutes for Term 2, allowing more time for a broader discussion.
School tours for next year’s Preps have been taking place, with over 200 people booked in to look around the school. 2026 Foundation enrolments are expected to be around 75, in line with the school’s capacity.
Finance Sub Committee
The school budget was discussed and reviewed in detail. The school is in a stable financial position with the contribution of various revenue streams and expects to end the financial year in the black.
Buildings & Grounds Sub Committee
The main focus for Buildings & Grounds this term has been the Murphy Street garden corridor, between the two high fences. Many people will be pleased to see this area has now been clear, mulched and made ready for planting. The school kids will assist with planting this out as a native wildlife garden in early June. A huge thank you to all the parents and families who leaned into this project over the ANCAZ weekend.
OSHC Sub Committee
Attendance numbers are at their capacity on the busy days for OSHS, with average attendance sitting around 130 per day. There was a discussion around the size of the program and how large it can grow. It’s important to be able to keep the program at a size where it can be delivered in one primary location and not split across two school sites. Finding the balance between the size of the program and the quality of care & service being provided is also a key consideration.
The money raised from the increase in program fees this year, was tagged to be spent on OSHC. A large proportion of these funds were recently spent up upgrading the OSCH kitchen facilities.
The Spanish Sub Committee
The Spanish Sub Committee met for the first time this year to reconnect and reflect on the work they do and how they can continue to bring the language and culture into our broader community.
PFA
It has been all about movie night (tonight!) and the election on Saturday as far as the PFA has been concerned. The movie night will be held behind the gym on the new lawn for the first time, with the gym also being utilised as the new venue for this weekend’s election.
It’s not too late to sign up and help out for either of these activities!
Thank you – Tim Smith, School Council
